Reading Ronna McDaniel commentary (“Mainers deserve better than failed attempts at leadership by Democrats,” Aug. 5) was disappointing in that the chairperson of the national Republican Party had nothing better to offer. She simply poo-pooed on someone else’s efforts without offering a single better idea. It doesn’t take a genius to realize there are no perfect systems. How about putting some effort in offering helpful suggestions instead of divisiveness. Oh yeah, the two-party system doesn’t work that way; you have to make the other side look bad in order for your side to have a political job. What is that job supposed to be again?

I suggest we vote for the person not the party and recognize that those promoting a party want to stay in power. Party ideology changes with the wind in order to stay in office.
