The following communities plan to hold Scouting signup programs in September. Cub Scouting is a family-centered program built on fun while teaching lifelong values. Youth may join at any level.
AUGUSTA (West Side) — A “Touch a Truck with Cub Scout Pack 684” event is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Mill Park on Water Street. Those who attend can look at big rigs, police cars and construction trucks and see how they work. Youth in grades K-5 are eligible to join, but all are welcome. Hot dogs, drinks and chips are available. There also will be a Pine Wood Derby race going on. For more information, call Cubmaster Shawn Thomas at 207-620-2401.
AUGUSTA (East Side) — A gathering has been planned 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the American Legion Post 205, 396 Eastern Ave. Boys and girls in grades K-5 are welcome. BELGRADE/OAKLAND/SIDNEY — Pack 454 invites all K-5 youth and their families, siblings and friends to attend a night of learning and fun on one of two dates and locations: 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Maine Arts Academy on 11 Goldenrod Lane in Sidney, or at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at Camp Bomazeen at 656 Horsepoint Road in North Belgrade, for s’mores making. PITTSFIELD AREA — Youths can attend Cub Scout Pack 428’s open house at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at the Masonic Lodge Hall on 138 Hamilton Terrace in Pittsfield. Youth from any town are welcome. For questions, email [email protected].
WATERVILLE AREA — Scouting Uniform Bank/Scouting for Food Night/Scouts signup night is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Waterville Goodwill at 10 Concourse W. Uniforms are available for youth who are in Scouting or joining Scouting and need a uniform. There also will be books and hats while supplies last. Food will be collected for the Pleasant Street Methodist Church Food Bank as part of its Scouting for Food Drive; people are asked to bring non-perishables to donate.
