Thanks to Congress, and particularly to U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, D-2nd District, help is on the way for our community in addressing “forever chemicals” like PFAS.

As you may be aware, Fairfield and our neighbors have some of the highest levels of PFAS in our water. The bipartisan infrastructure bill that recently passed Congress includes $390 million to be spent in Maine on clean drinking water. This funding will be used to remove lead pipes and make sure families like ours have access to clean water which doesn’t have PFAS contamination.

This investment here in Maine is critical, and I am thankful that Congressman Golden fought so hard to get this bill passed. I applaud all those who voted for the bill, reminding us that we can still get things done to help each other.
