FAIRFIELD — A man from Puerto Rico has been arrested following a double stabbing late Saturday at 19 Pratt Road in Fairfield, according to police.

Alejandro Rivera, 31, was taken to the Somerset County Jail in Madison, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Rivera is charged with two counts of elevated aggravated assault.

Moss said Sunday the Maine State Police and officers from Fairfield, Waterville and Skowhegan responded to a report of a possible stabbing at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday at the Pratt Road residence.

“Upon investigation, it was learned that two adult male sustained stab wounds at the home where there was a gathering that evening,” Moss wrote in a statement released to the news media. “Both males were transported to the area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.”

The victims are not being identified at this time, Moss said.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” Moss said, adding anyone with information related to the stabbings should contact state police at 207-624-7076.
