Thomas College athletics has announced the return of Joey Waraskevich as the head men’s ice hockey coach.

Waraskevich previously served as the assistant ice hockey coach from 2015 to 2021 where he played an influential role in the recruiting process, according to a news release from the Waterville college.

“We are thrilled to have Joey back and a part of our coaching staff now as our head coach” said Vice President of Athletics Christopher Parsons. “With his experience and recruiting ability the program will be in great hands”

Waraskevich also has prior coaching experience at the youth and high school levels along with a 35-year career in hockey himself.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to come back to Thomas and build off from what has already been established,” said Waraskevich. “The Thomas community has been very welcoming, and I am looking forward to being with the team this fall.”

Waraskevich’s first day was Aug. 1.
