“August Dreams,” by Elisabeth Salberg Submitted photo

The art of Elisabeth Salberg is now on display through the month of September at the Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Graduating from Duke University where she studied art history, life took Salberg on a different path. For over 30 years she worked as a registered nurse, retiring from CMMC in 2013. At that point she returned to her earlier passion and began to paint, exhibiting at the Annual Yarmouth Art Festival, the Elizabeth Moss Galleries in Falmouth, the Roux & Cyr International Fine Art Gallery in Portland as well as venues throughout central and southern Maine.

“The beautiful colors of Maine are a constant inspiration to me, and quite a challenge, as I try to transform that world of color, light and shape into a painting that hopefully, others will enjoy,” Salberg said.

She is a member of Maine Women in the Arts and lives in Auburn with her husband and their golden retriever. For more information on Salberg, visit oilpaintingsofmaine.com.

The works on display may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop located adjacent to the main lobby at Central Maine Medical Center. As a result of the hospital safety precautions due to the pandemic, the art gallery is only available for viewing for staff, patients, and their designated visitors at this time. A percentage of sale proceeds benefits patients of CMMC.
