Karin K. Zimba, a senior at Waterville Senior High School, has been named a semifinalist in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program, according to a news release from Dr. Brian M. Laramee, principal, and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Zimba is the daughter of Travis and Yasameen Zimba of Waterville.
Throughout the nation about 16,000 semifinalists have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,250 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. Semifinalist placed among the top 1 percent of high school seniors who entered the 2023 competition by taking the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
