AUGUSTA — Hooked on Fishing instructor training will be offered for free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, or Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife headquarters at 353 Water St.
Whether new to fishing or a seasoned angler, this workshop will have something for anyone interested in becoming an angling instructor. This workshop is great for classroom teachers, homeschoolers, scout leaders, nature center educators, or anyone with an interest in being active in their community, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
Workshop participants will:
• Be introduced to activities that focus on Maine-specific fisheries and waters;
• try example activities;
• receive free resources for instruction; and
• network with other angling enthusiasts from beginner to expert.
Prior to attending this in-person workshop, participations must complete the National Hooked on Fishing-Not on Drugs online training component. The online training takes about an hour to complete.
