BATH — Maine Maritime Museum is offering free admission to all weekend visitors in January, February and March thanks to support from Bath Savings.

Weekend visitors can experience indoor tours of the historic Percy & Small shipyard, scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturdays. New exhibits on view include “Women Behind the Lens: The Photography of Emma D. Sewall, Josephine Ginn Banks, and Abbie F. Minott,” and “Featured Finds” documenting ongoing research into the provenance, or earliest known history, of items in the museum’s collection.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 3, “SeaChange: Darkness and Light in the Gulf of Maine,” a site-specific art and ecology installation in partnership with Gulf of Maine EcoArts, will also open to the public.

Open year-round, the museum explores Maine’s rich maritime culture through permanent and rotating exhibits, educational programs, tours and demonstrations.

“I’ve personally heard first-time visitors remark, ‘I had no idea this was such a huge, cool museum!’” said Amanda Pleau, marketing and communications manager at the museum. “And we’re hoping that by continuing to remove barriers to entry, we can show you why that’s true.”

As part of its accessibility initiative, children 17 and younger receive free admission through 2026 because of Central Maine Power. The museum has also partnered with Museums for All, a program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, to provide free admission to anyone with an EBT (electronic benefit transfer) card. As a participating institution, visitors can present their EBT card at the front desk to receive free admission for up to four people any time the museum is open.
