Do you think Chipotle will open another restaurant in central Maine in the wake of its settlement with workers?

Under a settlement announced recently, Chipotle Mexican Grill has agreed to pay $240,000 out to former employees of its now-shuttered Augusta restaurant.

The settlement involving 24 Maine workers came after the National Labor Relations Board found the restaurant chain had violated labor laws by closing its location at Marketplace at Augusta weeks after employees became the first in the country to file for union recognition. The company also blacklisted a worker who sought employment at one of the company’s other locations in Maine.

In a statement at the time, Chipotle officials maintained the Augusta restaurant was closed because of staffing and other issues, and not because of union activities involving employees.

In Maine, Chipotle now operates seven restaurants, in Auburn, Bangor, Portland, Saco, South Portland, Westbrook and Windham. Last fall, a company submitted application materials to the city of Waterville to open a Chipotle at the Best Western Plus site on Main Street, but officials confirmed this week there are no plans to open a restaurant there.

But what do you think? Will Chipotle open another restaurant in central Maine in the wake of its settlement with workers? Tell us in the poll and in the comments below.
