SKOWHEGAN — A Seed Starting Indoors workshop is scheduled for 12:30-3 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Somerset County office, 7 County Drive.

Brett Johnson, UMaine Extension sustainable agriculture and horticulture professional, will share strategies used to optimize conditions for seed germination, seedling growth and acclimation to the outdoors.

Variety selection and sowing schedules will be discussed, as well as what qualities make a planting medium ideal for seed starting indoors.

A light lunch will be provided before the presentation.

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A discussion and an optional seed-sowing workshop, according to a news release from Emily Collins at the Skowhegan office.

There is a suggested donation of up to $15 for this program; registration is required. For more information and to register, visit extension.umaine.edu.

To request a reasonable accommodation, call 207-474-9622 or email emily.collins3@maine.edu.
