Librarians are professionals charged with book and media selections based on reviews, research, requests, and recommendations.

Parents are charged with helping their families make thoughtful, considered choices about what their own children are exposed to, in areas like reading material, friends, clothing picks, and entertainment.

If there are offerings in schools, public libraries, or bookstores that parents do not want their kids exposed to, they can tell their young what titles to avoid, and explain their objections to the material.

No parent has the right to limit choices professional librarians or book sellers make in providing books and materials to the general public, any more than they should tell stores what clothes to carry, or theaters and networks which movies can be shown. Make the best choices for your family, and explain them to your children. Use your words.
