ROME — Pine Tree Camp’s unique Adventure Day Pass provides an accessible way for Maine people with disabilities and their families to be engaged and active outdoors this winter through barrier-free day use of camp’s 285-acre fully accessible campus on North Pond.
“Whether it’s snowshoeing for the first time or experiencing the thrill of ice fishing, keeping people connected is the very essence of what we do,” said Pine Tree Camp Director Dawn Willard-Robinson, according to a news release from the camp. “Adventure Day Pass is a way to bring our community together outdoors to experience the freedom of trying something new this winter. It’s a way for families to spend time together outdoors, have fun and meet new friends.”
Pine Tree Camp Adventure Day Pass are set to be offered four times this winter — from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays Jan. 20, Feb. 17, March 23 and April 20 — at Pine Tree Camp, 114 Pine Tree Camp Road.
Activities:
• New: Approach adaptive cross country skis
• Snowshoeing
• Ice fishing
• Outdoor fire stations with s’mores
• Indoor crafts
• Warming hut
• Plenty of surprises
“Our new adaptive approach skis work with any boot the person is wearing and offer an exciting new way to explore our trails,” said Willard-Robinson. “We’re outfitted with kids and adult size skis and can’t wait for people to come try them out.”
