I was born and raised in Maine and as a conservative Mainer, I wish to voice my concern for the change from the Maine electoral college to a national popular vote.

It seems the current Democratic majority in the Legislature is creating ways to disenfranchise conservative Republican voters and candidates in Maine by either banning the candidate of their choosing or now changing to the NPV, which would both be to the Democrats’ advantage.

I disagree with both of those decisions because it leaves out a majority of Mainers to be able to participate in free elections, taking that freedom out of our electoral process.

The American Founding Fathers considered and rejected a national popular vote because it would lack checks and balances to protect minority rights and limit corruption.

I urge all conservative Mainers to voice their opinions on this to protect and preserve our right to elect the candidate of our choosing, not who the Democrats in charge tell us we can and cannot vote for.

This is blatant election interference and corruption that would guarantee one-party rule forever in Maine and it ought not pass.
