RUMFORD — Mountain Valley’s Jaden Boulanger, Rangeley’s Breezy Quimby and Maranacook’s Thatcher Riley claimed titles at the Mountain Valley Conference Alpine skiing state championships at Black Mountain of Maine.
Boulanger, last year’s Class B state champion in the slalom and runner-up in the giant slalom, won Tuesday’s girls giant slalom race with a combined two-run time of 1 minute, 46.78 seconds. Quimby (1:49.54) placed second, and Mountain Valley’s Lily Boulanger (1:51.64), the reigning state champion, placed third in the giant slalom.
Jaden Boulanger and Breezy Quimby’s times in the giant slalom were the fastest of the day of either gender.
Later in the day, Quimby won the MVC title in the slalom, finishing in 1:28.29. Maranacook’s Phoebe Bell (1:29.56) and Spruce Mountain’s Ashley Nelson (1:32.40) placed second and third, respectively.
Riley won the boys giant slalom (1:50.26) and slalom (1:20.59) conference titles.
Will Grant (1:52.17) of Winthrop took second in the giant slalom, and Nate Gallant (1:52.31) of Mountain Valley came in third.
Maranacook’s Tristin Riley (1:26.47) placed second to Thatcher Riley in the slalom, while Winthrop’s Jaxon August (1:26.61) took third.
Maranacook won the boys and girls team titles. The girls racked up 1,549 points, while runner-up Rangeley tallied 1,530.
The Black Bears’ boys squad had 1,573 points. Mountain Valley came in second with 1,536.
