JAY — Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday for allegedly attempting to break into a residence on Belmont Drive, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said Wednesday.

The boys ages 13 and 16 of Livermore Falls and Norway, respectively, were charged with misdemeanor attempted burglary and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

The teens ran from police, who followed their footprints and caught up with them on Intervale Road, also known as state Route 140, in Jay, Caton said.

The 16-year-old was released to his legal guardian in Norway. The 13-year-old was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland, Caton said.
