FARMINGTON — A certificate of appreciation was presented to Lloyd Smith at the selectmen meeting on Tuesday evening, April 23.

“Presented to Lloyd Smith for 32 years of service to the citizens of Farmington, Maine, including 26 years as a member of the Budget Committee,” Chair Joshua Bell read from the certificate presented by the board. It was signed by Selectmen Bell, Richard Morton, Dennis O’Neil, Matthew Smith and Byron Staples as well as Town Manager Erica LaCroix, he noted.

“Lloyd’s insight, experience with Farmington’s budgets for over two and a half decades have helped all of us better understand the real cost of doing business in Farmington as well as how to spend taxpayers money wisely,” Fenwick Fowler said at the annual town meeting on March 25. Smith, who was presented a gift at that meeting was speechless then.

Tuesday night he said, “I am not done yet. Twenty six years on that committee and I like to tell people now that I am working on a 20-year plan, something else.”

“All right,” Bell responded. “Perfect.”

“I plan to work for the town as long as I possibly can,” Smith noted.

“We appreciate it,” Bell added. “Thank you, Lloyd.”
