HINCKLEY — The Maine New Farmers Project at University of Maine Cooperative Extension is set to offer a tractor safety-themed farm visit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 7.
The event will be held at the Kennebec Valley Community College’s Alfond Campus — Hinckley, 677 Skowhegan Road in Fairfield. It is geared toward people interested in starting a farm in Maine or who have started one in the last 10 years.
Focusing on tractor safety and equipment maintenance, the event will be led by Assistant Extension Professor Jason Lilley. It is an opportunity for new farmers to learn critical skills as well as network with other new farmers and service providers, according to a news release from the extension.
The event is free; registration at extension.umaine.edu is required to stay up to date with updates and resources.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
