MANCHESTER — Silas Francis Moss Bartol earned Eagle Scout rank at a ceremony held Aug. 4 at the Manchester Fire Station.

Twelve Eagle Scouts and Secretary of State Shenna Bellows were in attendance.

Bartol, 18, is the son of Thomas Bartol and Barbara Moss, both of Manchester. He graduated from Maranacook High School earlier this year, where he was a cross country runner and Nordic skier.

He plans to attend Clarkson University to study mechanical engineering, according to a news release from Chuck Mahaleris, district chairman for the Kennebec Valley District of Scouting.

For his Eagle Scout project, Bartol designed a trailhead kiosk on Kearns Hill Road for the Manchester Woods.

He created a CAD design and 3D model and completed a cut list and parts list. Then he obtained funding for the project and recruited volunteers to help construct it.
