A team of five detectives and five deputies from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at about 10 a.m. at the residence of Cory Miller, Sheriff Dale Lancaster said in a statement issued Monday.

The residence, described as a double-wide trailer, is at 1111 South Solon Road in Solon, court records show.

Along with Miller, 36, investigators arrested Derek Sicard, 32, of Ludlow, Massachusetts, and Sir Michael James, 47, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on drug trafficking charges, Lancaster said.

Miller has been charged with four Class A counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs; Sicard has been charged with six Class A counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs; and James has been charged with six Class A counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and a misdemeanor count of falsifying physical evidence, according to complaints prosecutors filed Monday at Skowhegan District Court.

As a result of the bust, Kaylee Cowan, 31, of Waterville was also arrested on a warrant for a motion to revoke probation out of Kennebec County, the sheriff said.

Inside the home, the detectives and deputies found 457 grams of crack cocaine and 80 grams fentanyl, Detective Michael Lyman of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a probable cause affidavit filed with the court.  The drugs have an estimated street value of $60,000, Lancaster said in his statement.

As part of the search authorized by the warrant, detectives found messages about selling the drugs on Miller’s and Sicard’s cellphones, Lyman wrote in the affidavit.

Investigators also found $18,000 in suspected illicit drug proceeds, a loaded 9 mm pistol and other drug-related items and documentation.

The search warrant was obtained from a judge after a monthlong investigation by the Sheriff’s Office into suspected drug trafficking activities at the residence, Lancaster said.

Investigators also believed people at the home might have been connected to an Aug. 7 fatal crash on the same road, Lancaster said.

According to information released by the Sheriff’s Office, a car operated by Rahaheem Friend, 33, listed as a transient from Skowhegan, crashed near the intersection of South Solon Road, near Merrill Lane, in the early morning hours. Friend’s first name is listed as Rhaheem on a crash report filed in a Maine State Police database.

The car’s passenger, Nicholas Foss, 38, of Madison died at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

GPS mapping shows 1111 South Solon Road is about 2 miles from where the crash occurred near Merrill Lane.

Reached by telephone Monday afternoon, Lancaster declined to comment on the suspected connection to the crash, citing what he called an active and ongoing investigation.

Probable cause affidavits for the three arrested on drug trafficking charges do not mention any suspected connection to the crash.

Lancaster said bail has been set at $100,000 each for Sicard and James, and $25,000 for Miller. All three are due back in a Skowhegan courtroom Dec. 18.

According to the criminal complaints on file in Skowhegan, Sicard has a prior drug possession conviction in Massachusetts, and James has a prior federal conviction for conspiracy to distribute drugs in Vermont.

Cowan, arrested on the probation revocation warrant, was expected to be taken to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta, Lancaster said.

Another person was at the residence at the time of the search warrant being executed, but was not arrested, according to Lancaster’s statement.

The Somerset County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case, the sheriff said.
