FAIRFIELD — A near weeklong search for a mother and her 3-year-old son ended when the duo was found safe Friday morning, according to a release from the Fairfield Police Department.
Star Cunningham and her son had been missing since Monday, when they took a walk toward Fairfield Center, officials stated.
The search concluded Friday and Cunningham and her son “have been located and are safe,” according to the release.
“We had a bunch of leads overnight that we were trying to run down and verify,” Fairfield police Officer Casey Dugas said Friday.
Police previously said Cunningham moved over the weekend into her mother’s home in Fairfield with her son.
Cunningham left her family’s house on foot with her son after a disagreement on Monday, according to Dugas.
Cunningham and her son were not believed to be in danger during the ordeal, Dugas said.
“We’re just concerned for her welfare and that of the child. There’s no reason to think they’re in immediate danger,” he said before the pair was found Friday.
Police had received about 20 reports and leads since putting out a missing persons notice for Cunningham and her son on Thursday.
