The sighting of a trailer believed to be stolen is what prompted a chase Wednesday that began in Solon.
The chase — with an 18-wheeler pursuing an SUV — traversed to Embden, Bingham and eventually to Athens.

At some point, there was also a fight, and someone may have drawn a gun.
And it all ended with a rollover crash of a vehicle that had a 4-month-old child inside. Two people now face charges.
That is all according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, which has investigated the case for days and released information Monday.
As a result of the investigation, Alexander Wyman, 41, was arrested Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of driving to endanger and endangering the welfare of a child, said Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Wyman posted bail later that day, Mitchell said, and was released from the Somerset County Jail in Madison. Bail was set at $250, online jail booking records show.
Monday night, Wyman was arrested again on more serious charges: three counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and one count each of possession of a firearm by a felon, domestic violence reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and violation of a protective order, jail records show.

Mitchell confirmed those charges are also in connection with the same incident. He was being held without bail at the county jail and is expected to appear before a judge Wednesday in Skowhegan.
Earlier Monday, Alexander Wyman’s wife — Sarah Wyman, 42, of Solon — was arrested on three counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and one count of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
Sarah Wyman posted $5,000 cash bail later in the day and was released from jail; her next scheduled court date was not immediately available.
Mitchell said Monday night via telephone that the investigation is ongoing, but detectives have pieced together an initial version of events.
“Trying to put these pieces together in this particular case has not been easy,” he said.
The incident began around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, when sheriff’s deputies were notified of an alleged theft of a trailer in Solon, Mitchell said.
Gerry Gregoire, 55, believed to be of Solon, reported that he was near his logging business on Ferry Street in Solon and saw somebody driving a white Ford Expedition towing his enclosed box trailer, which had a commercial generator and compressor inside, according to Mitchell.
Gregoire, who owns the trailer, told police he gave nobody permission to take it, Mitchell said. It is unclear to investigators if the trailer was actually stolen, though, and neither Wyman has been charged with theft.
Gregoire confronted the man towing the trailer with an SUV — later identified as Alexander Wyman, with Sarah Wyman identified as a passenger — and Alexander Wyman drove away.

“So, Gerry chases him in an 18-wheeler,” Mitchell said.
The vehicles continued on Ferry Street, crossed the Kennebec River, and turned on to the Kennebec River Road in Embden, heading north toward Concord Township.
At some point along the way, Gregoire radioed another truck driver, and the two somehow got the Wymans’ vehicle to stop, Mitchell said. Details of how that happened were unclear.
A physical altercation ensued, and Gregoire claimed Alexander Wyman brandished a gun, Mitchell said. Alexander Wyman left the trailer at the scene and drove away, while Gregoire stayed with it.
Meanwhile, Gerry Gregoire had called his son, Dylan Gregoire, 25, believed to be of Madison. Dylan Gregoire was heading south in search of the Wymans’ SUV and claimed that he spotted them and a gun was pointed at him.
Dylan Gregoire continued pursuing the vehicle, crossing back over the Kennebec River into Bingham, then back toward Solon, before heading back north toward Bingham, Mitchell said. The chase then continued on to Route 16 toward Moscow and Mayfield Township, before the Wymans’ vehicle turned on to Route 151 toward Brighton Plantation and Athens.
In Athens, the SUV rolled over, Mitchell said. A few inches of snow had fallen overnight and roads in the area were still being cleared Wednesday morning.
Deputies arrived at that point and found Alexander Wyman, Sarah Wyman and a 4-month-old child in a car seat in the SUV, Mitchell said.
“Fortunately, nobody got seriously hurt,” Mitchell said.
Alexander Wyman was treated for minor injuries before he was taken to jail.
Because of the child’s involvement, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services has become involved in the investigation, Mitchell confirmed, though he was not authorized to provide further information.
Somerset County Sheriff’s Office detectives executed two search warrants, one for the Wymans’ vehicle and one at their Solon residence. Both resulted in the seizure of firearms, according to Mitchell.
Wyman is not supposed to possess guns because of a protection order against him in New Jersey, Mitchell said, though he had no further details.
Detective Michael Lyman arrested Sarah Wyman Monday, and Alexander Wyman turned himself in later that night.
The two suspects have ties to Skowhegan, having recently purchased the Brick House Kitchen at 147 Madison Ave., which they opened in early 2024.
The restaurant closed as of October, according to a Facebook post on the business’ page. The space was available to lease as of the end of January, another Facebook post said.
