CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The High Peaks Alliance hosted an “Après with the High Peaks Alliance” gathering at Sugarloaf Mountain Resort March 8, drawing more than 90 attendees passionate about conservation and recreational access in Maine’s High Peaks region.
The event, held at the Bill & Joan Alfond Competition Center, provided a platform for community members to connect with the organization while learning about ongoing conservation efforts, according to a news release from Amanda Laliberte, the alliance’s director of engagement. Attendees received information about local trail systems, with hundreds of trail maps and brochures distributed throughout the evening.
The alliance will continue its community outreach and welcomes ongoing support through volunteering, monthly donations, and participation in future events. Monthly contributions directly support trail maintenance efforts while providing employment opportunities for local youth.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
