The Portland Sea Dogs canceled the second game of Friday’s doubleheader with the Reading Fightin Phils at Hadlock Field because it would have exceeded the number of doubleheaders teams may play in a seven-day window.
The teams will play a single game at 6 p.m.
Since May 3, Portland has played five doubleheaders. Six Sea Dogs home games have been rained out this season, equaling their total from the previous two seasons combined. Portland has also had three road games rained out. Portland and Reading have a doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday evening as well.
The canceled game was originally scheduled to be played on April 27, one of two straight rainouts.
