The Hartford Yard Goats (7-9) totaled five runs in the eighth and ninth innings Wednesday to come away with a 13-8 victory against the Portland Sea Dogs (8-8) at Hadlock Field.
Roc Riggio hit a pair of three-run homers, and Andy Perez had four hits and scored three runs for Hartford, which opened an 8-3 lead through five innings. Portland recovered with a four-run sixth, including a run-scoring double by Franklin Arias, before the Yard Dogs clinched it late.
Hartford finished with 18 hits against four pitchers.
Arias and Tyler McDonough hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the first. The homer for Arias was his fifth in his last six games.
The Yard Goats have won the first two of the six-game series, with the third game at 6 p.m. Thursday.
