The Portland Sea Dogs scored three runs in the second inning and four more in the third on their way to a 7-1 win over the Hartford Yard Goats in an Eastern League game Thursday night in Hartford, Connecticut.
Marvin Alcantara was 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored for Portland. He had RBI singles in the second and third inning.
Portland opened the second inning with three straight singles to take a 1-0 lead. Nelly Taylor added a sacrifice fly, Caden Rose had an RBI groundout and Ahbram Liendo hit an RBI double.
Miguel Bleis doubled to lead off the third and scored on a double by Nate Baez to make it 4-0. Alcantara’s single made it a five-run lead, and Rose added a two-run double.
Gage Ziehl pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win. He allowed two hits, struck out three and walked one. Cooper Adams allowed a run in two innings, and Max Carlson struck out three in an 1 1/3 innings.
Braylen Wimmer hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Hartford.
