S. Donald Sussman has been named the recipient of this year’s Spurwink Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Sussman, a billionaire hedge fund manager, philanthropist and husband of U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine, will be honored tonight at a gala at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland.

The award is presented to people who have significantly enriched the lives of others.

Spurwink provides residential educational and behavioral services for Maine adults and families.
