Farmers markets across central Maine are now open for the season.

Many markets offer a wide variety of goods, including fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables; naturally raised meats, milk, eggs and cheeses; baked goods, coffee, maple syrup and honey; and soaps, salves, seedlings, cut flowers, crafts, and other items.

Most vendors accept credit cards, but it’s best to be prepared to pay another way. Some markets offer discounts for cash.

Here’s a snapshot of markets in and around central Maine.
