FARMINGTON — The Homestead Kitchen, Bar and Bakery on Broadway will recapture the Prohibition Era with the fourth annual Speakeasy Dance Party Saturday.

Tickets cost $15 per person. Ticket sales will benefit the greater Farmington area Care and Share Food Closet. Franklin Savings Bank will match ticket sales up to $1,500, according to a news release from event organizer Doug Walrath.

To enter through the restaurant’s back door, give the doorman the password — “Joe sent me” — and a can of food for the food closet. Special Speakeasy fare and Prohibition-era cocktails will be on the menu, dinner will be served from 5 to 9 p.m. The restaurant will be decorated to look like the roaring twenties. Servers will be dressed in flapper attire.

Music and dancing begin at 7 p.m. with authentic 1920s jazz from the South Strong Road Crew and Friends — Andy Buckland on bass, Scott Dixon on drums, Doug Walrath on keyboard, and Sherry Walrath singing fun songs of the era. The regulars will be joined by Mel Tukey, Maine’s premier jazz trumpet player, and Peter Lord of the famous Bellamy Jazz band on soprano sax. This year jazz singer Leila Percy will be featured vocalist.

1920′ dress is encouraged, but it is not required.

Tickets are available in advance at the Homestead or at the door. To reserve tickets or make dinner reservations, call 778-6162.
