CONCORD, N.H. – Autopsy results confirm that a Dover man shot and killed his wife in her hospital room before killing himself.
The attorney general’s office said Wednesday that both 49-year-old Katherine Lavoie and 50-year-old Mark Lavoie died of single gunshot wounds to the head.
Katherine Lavoie’s death at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital on Tuesday was ruled a homicide and her husband’s a suicide.
In a Facebook post before the shooting, Lavoie said his wife was trying to escape “bi-polar demons,” was on life support and didn’t want to live that way. He said their deaths would be ruled a murder-suicide but were actually a double suicide.
Police went to the hospital just after 6 a.m. after a 911 call reported gunshots in a private room in the critical care unit.
