A St. Albans man was arrested Monday after allegedly breaking into a residence where he attacked a man who was a friend of his former girlfriend and threatened to burn the house down, police said.
Jason Alan Tuttle, 38, is charged with domestic violence terrorizing, aggravated criminal trespassing, assault and criminal mischief.
Tuttle allegedly broke into a Canaan residence at around 1:30 a.m. Monday where his former girlfriend was staying and began assaulting a man who was a friend of hers, said Chief Deputy James Ross of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Tuttle kicked the man and beat him with his fists, Ross said. He also kicked a window out of the man’s car.
He then sent text messages saying he was going to burn the house down and threatened to harm himself.
The man suffered facial injuries but declined medical attention, Ross said. He said it was not clear whether the man was romantically involved with Tuttle’s former girlfriend.
Police found Tuttle at a residence in St. Albans. He was arrested at around 4 a.m. Monday and remained in custody at the Somerset County Jail Monday afternoon.
