Augusta police are looking for a man who robbed a Stone Street convenience store early Monday morning.
Deputy Chief Jared Mills said in a release that nobody was hurt during the robbery, but a man got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The hold up occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a man walked into the Big Apple at 36 Stone St. and handed an employee a note that contained a threatening message that demanded money, Mills said.
The note suggested the robber had a weapon, but none was ever shown. “The male was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the store on foot,” Mills said.
Augusta police and a Maine State Police trooper with a dog searched the area along Stone and Middle streets and Eastern Avenue but were unable to find the man.
Mills said the robber was described as white with a thin build. He was wearing a dark jacket, ski hat, sunglasses and a scarf covering his face.
Mills asked anyone with information on the robbery to call Augusta police at 626-2370.
