A fire that destroyed an Anson home last week was set intentionally to cover up a break-in at the property, investigators said Monday.

Authorities with the Office of Maine State Fire Marshal on Saturday arrested two men and a teenage girl in connection with the break-in and arson at 394 Pease Hill Road on Feb. 24. The building and a garage at the property were destroyed in the fire. The home was a seasonal residence owned by Daniel St. Armand, of San Antonio, Texas, and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office on Saturday arrested Deyon Kitchin, 19, and Dylan Brown, 23, and a 17-year-old female, all of Madison, after executing a search warrant at a home owned by Linda Greene on Main Street in Madison.

All three suspects have been charged with arson, aggravated criminal mischief and theft.

Investigators recovered a number of items allegedly stolen from the Pease Hill Road home, including an oxygen tank, firecrackers, antique dishes and a backpack, according to a news release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

According to investigators, the fire was allegedly set to cover up the burglary.

Kitchin and Brown are being held at the Somerset County Jail and are expected to make initial court appearances Monday or Tuesday, according to the news release. The teenager was released into the custody of her parents.
