Injured hiker airlifted off Appalachian Trail in Maine

Rescue crews took to the Appalachian Trail near East Madrid to locate the hiker, but opted to call in a helicopter crew as darkness approached.

Commissioners voted Thursday to restore $30,146 to the budget that was removed by the advisory committee.

The first of four meetings on the subject will be held June 9 at the Masonic Hall in New Sharon.

The commissioners will consider the budget proposal at their meeting June 5.

The proposal represents at $761,375.05 increase over the existing budget.

The 21-acre property in the Carrabassett Valley region will serve as a base for the Bowdoin Outing Club.
