Skowhegan’s link with the Civil War

SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan History House Museum and Research Center in conjunction with the Skowhegan Free Public Library will host a free presentation at 7 p.m. April 13 at the Library in the Civil War Memorial Room on Elm Street. Local historians Lee Granville, Don Finley and William Laney will assist participants in understanding what connections Skowhegan had with the Civil War and its effects on our community and its families.

Registration set for upcoming students

MOSCOW — Moscow Elementary pre-school and kindergarten screening will be May 20 for all children entering pre-kindergarten and kindergarten in the fall. Children from the communities of Bingham, Concord, Moscow and Pleasant Ridge attend the school.

Mandatory coaches meeting Wednesday

SKOWHEGAN — There will be a mandatory informational and Nation Youth Sports Coaches Association certification meeting for individuals interested in coaching any sports or activities through the Skowhegan Parks and Recreation Department. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. April 13 at the Skowhegan Community Center.
