Xander Bogaerts will miss 10 to 14 days with an ankle injury, while Boston has assigned Drew Pomeranz to pitch in the Sea Dogs’ home opener Friday.

The Portland Sea Dogs’ third baseman tested positive for a steroid, according to the MLB commisioner’s office.

Tim Tebow belts a three-run home run in his Double-A debut, sparking the Binghamton Mets to a 6-0 opening night win over the Portland Sea Dogs.

Portland begins its 25th season against the Rumble Ponies, who have former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow in the outfield.

Among the players coming back to Portland are Mike Olt, Danny Mars and top prospect Michael Chavis.

The roster isn’t official, but the Red Sox Double-A team will have some prospects.

Its effectiveness at trimming the length of games in the minors – like the Sea Dogs’ – could signal a big-league tryout next year.

The former QB reportedly will be assigned to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, who play the Sea Dogs in Portland April 13-15.
