The fire on Friendship Drive was reported about 5 p.m. Monday and is not considered suspicious.

Paula Thomas, chairwoman of the selectmen, said she wanted to give parents the opportunity to discuss air quality and concerns about mold issues at Regional School Unit 38’s Manchester Elementary School.

The fire was initially roaring and sending a thick column of black smoke into the sky, but firefighters appeared to prevent it from spreading to a home located about 30 feet away.
