As the first significant snowfall of the winter fell in the Augusta and Waterville areas, dozens of car crashes happened on local and state roads, but there were no immediate reports of serious injuries.

Monday’s light snow – ranging from 3.8 inches in Standish to 1.1 inches at the Portland airport – leads to numerous slide-offs and fender-benders throughout the region, as well as a run on snow tires, sand and ice melt.
