SKOWHEGAN — One person was sent to the hospital after a traffic accident around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday involving a pedestrian on U.S. Route 2.

According to Skowhegan police Chief Donald Bolduc, there was a “serious personal injury at this time” about 7 p.m. The road also was closed to all traffic. Police and emergency medical services were on the scene, and the Maine Department of Transportation was asked to set up a detour.
