RENO, Nev. — Federal officials say an air traffic controller in Nevada was asleep while a medical plane was landing
The Federal Aviation Administration says the controller was out of communication for about 16 minutes. The controller has been suspended while the FAA investigates.
The medical flight with at least three people aboard was forced to land overnight without help after the lone controller on duty didn’t respond to repeated contacts from the plane and airport staff.
It was at least the third incident this year at one of the nation’s airports where a lapse occurred involving traffic controllers.
