WINN — A 2-year-old girl is recovering after falling into a shallow well in northern Maine and being revived by ambulance crew members.

Mattawamkeag Fire Chief Bobby Powers said the crew was called Saturday afternoon to a report of a drowning at a home on Route 168 in the town of Winn, in northern Penobscot County.

The chief told the Bangor Daily News the child fell into a shallow well on the family property and was unresponsive when her father retrieved her.

The girl’s identity was not released. Powers said she was taken to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln.
