Area museums are displaying military artifacts to commemorate Maine’s role in the military going back to the American Revolution.

The project, called Central Maine Serves, is open at participating Central Kennebec Heritage Council museums.

The Fairfield History House display will include veterans pictures, diaries, and the Civil War Company property book. The museum, 42 High St., is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday and by appointment.

The Norridegwock Historical Society, 11 Mercer Road, will display multiple Civil War artifacts and uniforms. The museum is open 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays through Labor Day and by appointment.

Oakland’s Macartney House Museum, 25 Main St., will display a Civil War collection and Memorial Hall information. The museum is open 1:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesdays through August.

The L.C. Bates Museum, on the campus of Good-Will Hinckley, will display stories of Good Will Alumni and G.W. Hinckley’s children who served in World War 1. The museum, 14 Easler Road, is open10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 1-4:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Taconnett Falls Genealogy Library in Winslow will display soldier rosters from Maine and supporting books. The library, 10 Lithgow St. is open 1-4 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

The Old Canada Road Historical Society in Bingham will exhibit photos, diaries and letters from Civil War soldiers. The society, 16 Sidney St., is open 1-5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

The Margaret Chase Smith Library, 56 Norridgewock Road, in Skowhegan will focus on Smith’s reserve career and John Wesley Chase who served in the Union Army. The library hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Skowhegan History House Museum and Research Center, 66 Elm St., display will include the story of how Skowhegan supported the war with 294 men and boys and communication of that time. The center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
