WATERVILLE — Waterville police Chief Joseph Massey said Thursday that police have received no reports of area children receiving candy at Halloween that was tainted with drugs.

Massey said his office had received several calls over the last few days from people who have heard rumors about trick-or-treaters receiving tainted candy.

Massey said that he checked with school officials and the Fire Department, and neither received such reports. Massey said any parents who suspect their children received tainted candy should call police at 680-4700.
