WINTHROP — Applications are being accepted by the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce for the 25th annual Winthrop Sidewalk Art Festival. The festival will be held, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, downtown.

Pro wrestling set for Friday in Winslow
WINSLOW — Winslow High School senior class will host live pro wrestling Friday, April 13, in the Winslow High School gymnasium. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and show will start at 7:30 p.m.
Couponing class fundraiser available
MADISON — The Relay for Life D & D’s Dream Team will hold a couponing class fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Madison Elementary School, 43 Learners Lane. Two certified educators will conduct interactive lessons on how to use coupons everyday to save money on family needs. Cost is $15.

Pittsfield Library receives donation
PITTSFIELD — The Pittsfield Public Library recently added more than three dozen new DVDs to the collection because of a generous donation from Jill McGowan, Inc., a Portland fashion design company owned by Jill McGowan, a Pittsfield native.
Next Visiting Writers Series Thursday
FARMINGTON — The University of Maine at Farmington Writers Guild and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program will present Ira Sukrungruang as the next author in UMF’s 2011-12 Visiting Writers Series. Sukrungruang will read from his work at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the UMF Olsen Student Center.

Prichard begins 10-month service program
VINTON, Iowa — Emma Prichard, originally from Belgrade, has joined 220 individuals from across the U.S. in Vinton, Iowa, where they are devoting the next 10 months to giving back to communities in the north central region.
