Matt Friedman, the first-year head coach of the Skowhegan Area High School football team, is making his first visit to Lawrence’s Keyes Field tonight, and he’s not quite sure what to expect.
Parent/teacher conferences Oct. 3, 4
SKOWHEGAN — Skowhegan Area High School will host parent/teacher conferences from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, and 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in the gymnasium.
Healthcare forum Oct. 4 in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD — Dr. Erik Steele, D.O., FAAFP of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems will present “Health Care Reform: Yours, Your Community’s, and the Nation’s and Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the First Universalist Church. The forum is free and open to the public; donations are welcome.
Lake George to hostfall festival Sunday
SKOWHEGAN — The Skowhegan Parks and Recreation Department will host a fall festival from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Lake George Regional Park, west side. The event is free and open to all ages.

Household hazardous waste disposal planned
The Kennebec Valley Council of Governments has organized three household hazardous waste and unwanted medications drop off events. All events will run 9 a.m.-noon.
