Potato crops hurt by dry weather

Last summer, Maine potato farmers were dealt too much rain, which led to blight and rot. This year, the farmers are struggling with the opposite extreme — too little rain, which is stunting the potatoes’ growth and will hit farmers’ wallets hard this fall.

Dear Annie: My friend is a massage therapist. She had been offering me discounted professional massages in her home for months, and I finally took her up on it. The massage was fantastic. Later that night, however, I found many fleabites on my back, arms and legs. I am certain I got them from her house during our session.

Gays want us to condonetheir immoral lifestyle

In response to the letter by Susan Williamson, (Aug. 23) gay people are not “just like us”; they are different. They have chosen an immoral lifestyle that defies nature in every way, shape and form. They already have the same rights we have — to find a partner of the opposite sex and get married — but they choose not to. Gays want us to accept their immoral lifestyle by allowing them to marry, which is nothing more than legalized immorality.
