WEST GARDINER — Jim and Mandy Palmer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 4th, 2012. The couple enjoyed a weekend family camping trip to Acadia National Park and then celebrated with a family gathering at their home in West Gardiner.

James A. Palmer and the former Armande T. Morin were married Aug. 4th, 1962 at Our Lady of Mercy in Plainville, Conn.

Mr. Palmer retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years service in the Submarine Force. He was then employed at Digital Equipment Corporation for nine years.

Mrs. Palmer, in addition to raising their family, was employed by Carleton Woolen Mill as a factory store manager. She later owned and operated her own business, Mandy’s Wool Shed, retiring in 2006.

They have always been and continue to be avid supporters of Gardiner youth activities.

They have three children, Sandra Palmer Fish and her husband Kevin Fish, Cheryl Palmer Luken and her husband Mark Luken, and their son James A. Palmer Jr., and his wife Darlene Palmer. They also have nine grandchildren, Jessica, Alexandra and Elijah Fish, Isaac, Hannah and Ellie Luken, and Mikayla, Audrey and Brett Palmer.

Party guests were all local while congratulations came from all over the country.
