Kneading Conference, July 26, 27, 28

SKOWHEGAN — The Kneading Conference, a two-day gathering of home and professional bakers, millers, grain farmers, food entrepreneurs and writers, maltsters, wheat breeders and wood-fired oven builders, is set for Thursday, July 26, and Friday, July 27, at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds. More than 30 experts will gather from around the U. S. and Canada to lead workshops and panel discussions about making breads, pizzas and pastries in home and professional kitchens, building wood-fired earth or brick ovens, starting a micro-bakery, growing grains in the backyard and more.

4-H announces themes of annual contests

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County 4-H Leader’s Association recently announced three contests for youth and adults set for this year’s Franklin County 4-H Fair Saturday, June 2, at the Farmington Fairgrounds. The photo, decorated hat and baking contests have specific themes and will be displayed at the fair.
