AUGUSTA — Rita Lachance and C. J. Stevens were married September 22, 2012, at St. Augustine Church in St. Michael’s Parish by the Rev. Frank P. Morin.

Rita is a 1975 graduate of the University of Maine in Orono, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. From the University of Southern Maine, she received a Master of Science degree in 1981 and a Certificate of Advance Study in the area of Educational Leadership in 2006. She taught mathematics at Waterville Senior High School for 25 years and is now an instructor of mathematics at the University of Maine in Augusta. Rita visited Idaho last year — she has now seen all 50 states.

C. J. was born in Smithfield, Maine, and is a graduate of Central Connecticut College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He began his career as a hotel manager, but soon began devoting his full time to writing. He is the author of numerous books of poetry, biography, fiction, animal behavior and topics of regional interest. C.J. has traveled extensively and has lived in England, Ireland, Holland, Malta and Portugal.

The reception followed the ceremony at the Fort Western Arnold Howard Room in the Augusta Civic Center North Wing. Guests attended from the local area as well as Arizona and Tennessee.

The couple spent their honeymoon aboard the Norwegian Sky cruise ship with stops in the Bahamas. Recent travels have included a visit to the United Kingdom. They will reside in Augusta.
