Monmouth woman found safe
MONMOUTH — A local woman was found alive and conscious Monday night after rescuers spent several hours searching for her in the woods off outer Main Street.
The Monmouth woman, whose identity was not known, was reportedly found about 5 p.m. and was being evaluated by Monmouth Rescue. An update of her condition was not immediately available.
The woman’s discovery ended a search that lasted more than three hours Monday afternoon. Police Chief Kevin Mulherin said the 47-year-old woman was spotted by a neighbor after noon walking into the woods wearing pajama bottoms and a wool coat and carrying a pillow.
Police, including a dog from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department, and Monmouth Rescue and firefighters assisted with the search, which focused on an area about a mile north of Warren Road.
